Around The Courts: A Steady Fall and a Thanksgiving Camp on the Horizon at the City of Fort Walton Beach Tennis Center

November is here, and the City of Fort Walton Beach Tennis Center is settling into a steady fall rhythm with consistent programming across every level. From a successful Rally Foundation tournament behind us to a Thanksgiving half-day camp on the way, there’s plenty to look forward to. Here’s a look at what’s been happening on our courts and what’s ahead.

Junior & Adult Tennis Highlights

October kept things rolling at FWBTC, with adult and junior clinics continuing as usual through the month. The highlight on the adult side was our Rally Foundation Tennis and Pickleball Tournament, which brought our community together for a great cause benefiting childhood cancer research. A huge thank you to every player who participated and helped make the event such a success!

On the junior side, our programs remained steady throughout the month, with players continuing to build their fundamentals and competitive skills in our clinics and ROGY programs.

Looking ahead in November, our adult clinic schedule will continue as is, giving players plenty of consistent opportunities to stay on court as we head toward the holidays.

For our juniors, November programming will also continue as scheduled, with one exciting addition: a Thanksgiving Half-Day Camp on November 23, 24, and 25, running from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM each day. It’s a great way for junior players to stay active, have fun, and keep their game sharp during the holiday break. Spots are expected to fill quickly, so be sure to sign up early!

Facility Update

Thank you to everyone who continues to make FWBTC such a vibrant tennis community. We’re excited to carry this fall momentum into the holiday season and look forward to seeing everyone back on court this November!

Coaches Tip of the Month

A good serve starts with a consistent ball toss. Keep your tossing arm straight and release the ball smoothly, placing it slightly in front of you and high enough to allow a comfortable swing. Stay relaxed, bend your knees, and use your legs to help generate power. Avoid rushing your motion or trying to hit the ball too hard — reach up to make contact at your highest comfortable point, then follow through naturally into the court. A consistent toss leads to a consistent serve, so take your time, trust the process, and let the toss set up everything else.
