Around The Courts: January Newsletter

Hello everyone, and welcome to our last court report of 2023! This year has been a very exciting one for USTA Florida and Fort Walton Beach Tennis Center, and we are looking forward to continuing to grow and improve the customer experience in 2024. We could not do what we do if it weren’t for the community here in Northwest Florida and we will continue to do our best to serve you all and make FWBTC a world-class public tennis center. Thank you everyone for your support in 2023 and we can’t wait to see you all out here in 2024!

December Happenings

3.0/3.5/4.0 Women’s Tri-Level

Congratulations to our Women’s Tri-Level team for taking home the Florida Sectional title! With the win, they qualified for the national tournament in San Diego in March of 2024, where they will compete against the best teams from each section across the country. Great work this season and good luck at nationals!

Ugly Sweater Mixer

We had a blast this year at our Ugly Sweater Mixer! Thank you to all our participants who braved the cold weather to enjoy some hot cocoa, warm food, and not-so ugly tennis. We will be looking to host at least one mixer per quarter next year, so keep your eye on the website for more mixers in 2024!

Holiday Hours

FWBTC will be closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day. The tennis shop will be open 2-6pm on December 26-29, and 9am-1pm on December 30th. Thank you all for your understanding in advance.

January Happenings

High School Season

It is that time of the year again! High school season starts on January 16th, and FWBHS will be once again utilizing the tennis center for practices and matches. With the school teams using the facility, court time will be limited from 2-6pm on weekdays as well as some Saturday mornings. If you are looking to play, please call ahead or book a court online to guarantee your court time.

Cancellation Policy

Starting January 1st, we will be implementing a cancellation policy on private lessons. No-shows will be charged for the entirety of the scheduled lesson, and, if the lesson is cancelled within 12 hours of the scheduled time, the participant will be charged for a 30-minute lesson. Exceptions will be made ONLY for sickness and emergencies. If you have any questions, please reach out to Head Pro Travis Tressler.

January Love to Learn and Love to Pickle

Starting on Saturday, January 27th, we will be resuming our adult beginner programs with the addition of beginner pickleball! Both Love to Learn and Love to Pickle will be 6-week sessions that will introduce you to the basics of tennis and pickleball. Limited space is available for each class, so sign-up online as soon as possible to guarantee your spot!

Happy Holidays!

From all of us at USTA Florida and FWBTC, I want to wish you all a Happy Holiday season. Thank you for your patronage this past year, and we look forward to a great 2024. Thanks for reading and see you all out on the courts!

Wishing you all the best,

Travis Tressler
