Girls’ 12s

Over in the Girls’ 12s division, four athletes were battling it out on the courts. Kylie Karis (Miramar Beach), Katrina Lin (Niceville), Vanessa Rios (Fort Walton Beach), and Aubrey Powe (Fort Walton Beach), all battled it out in a round robin format.

To kick things off, it was Kylie who came out strong, taking a tough 4-2, 2-4, 7-5 match over Katrina. She would ride that momeutim to sweep her other two opponents, where she won 16 of the 17 games played in the four sets. This performance crowned her champion of the 12s.

Girls’ 14s

For the Girls’ 14s, eight girls battled it out in a bracket-style draw. Katie Hendricks (Fort Walton Beach) dominated her opening match and set up a great semifinal against Anna Wibberley (Panama City). These two girls went back and forth, trading the first two sets in tiebreakers. In the third set, Katie edged out a 7-3 win to advance to the finals.

On the other side it was Isabella Lin (Niceville) who came out strong in her first two matches, winning 16 of the 18 games played in the four sets. This set up a final between the two girls who had been on their best game. In the end, it was Katie who found her groove and cruised to a 4-2, 4-1 win to become the champion.

Girls’ 16s

Finally, in the Girls’ 16s, we saw two pools of three athletes, where the top competitors from each would advance to the finals. In the first pool, Katerina Roberts (Niceville) came out with fire, winning her two matches with a game score of 16-1. In the other one, it was Eliana Foster (Niceville), who also dominated her two matches with a 16-2 game score.

In the championship match, these two girls left it all on the courts. Katerina was able to strike first with a dominant 4-1 opening set win. However, Eliana bounced right back with a 4-2 win of her own. She would carry this momentum into the tiebreaker as she took it 7-3 to secure her win and become the champion.
