Around the Courts: February Newsletter

Hello everyone, and happy (almost) springtime! Although the first two months of the year were wet and cold, it finally feels like the weather is changing here in Northwest Florida. February was action-packed with lessons, high school match play, middle school tryouts, and our community day. Thank you to all our players for braving the weather this past month, and I’m looking forward to seeing familiar and new faces in March!

Community Day

Thank you to everyone who came out and participated in our Community Day on February 18th! We had 60+ attendees, and the day was filled with fun, laughter, and lots of tennis. We are here to serve the community here in Ft. Walton Beach, and all of us at USTA Florida are appreciative of your support. Special thanks to Stephen Vorhees, Lena Reeves, Maggie Lochas, and Mikaela McManus for their help running the event, Cole Armstrong and Ryan Roberson from the FWBHS Vikings Tennis Team for playing in our exhibition match, and Tuscany Hair Salon for donating all the food and drinks for the event!

Men’s Night

We didn’t forget about the guys! With the introduction of Ladies’ Morning, we are looking at adding a Men’s Night in March. We are still working on finalizing the times and details for this league, but we are hoping to have it up on the calendar as soon as possible. Keep your eyes on the calendar fellas so you don’t miss this new play opportunity!

Closing Time

February has been a whirlwind of a month here at the tennis center, and the courts were as busy as ever. The highlight of this month was definitely the Community Day, and it reminded me how lucky I am to be the Head Pro at FWBTC and serve this wonderful community. I am super excited to continue hosting the middle school and high school teams, all our events and lessons, and our new programming starting in March. I can’t wait to see you all out here on the courts!
