Around the Courts: January Newsletter

We have had a great start to 2023 here at the tennis center. While January has been cold and wet, junior programs, adult clinics, high school practice, and pickleball have kept the courts busy with action. Let’s hope for some warmer and drier weather for our packed calendar the next couple of months!

Around the Courts

Welcome Lena Reeves

We hired a front desk attendant in early December to work evening shifts and Saturday mornings. If you are at the courts, please give Lena a big hello and welcome. Lena was born and raised in Ft. Walton Beach and grew up taking tennis lessons here. Her daughter Kylie is also a tennis star in the making. We are super excited to have Lena as part of the FWBTC and USTA Florida team!

Court Time and School Season

With the start of the high school and middle school tennis season, we will have limited court availability between 2pm-6pm in the afternoon during the week. We do have 1 court blocked off for court rental. However, we will give the court away to the teams if it is not booked at the start of practice. Please contact the front desk or use the online court reservation system to get your court time.

Monday Night Adult Class

We have introduced a new adult class on Monday nights from 6:30pm-8pm! To ensure a good workout and lots of tennis balls hit, we have made this class invite only and limited to 8 spots. Please contact Travis Tressler at tressler@ustaflorida.com if you are interested in being added to our participant list.

Pickleball

We are not just a tennis facility! We have 4 lighted blended line courts here at the tennis center. Not only are the courts open for play, but we have also begun offering beginner pickleball lessons. Right now, we are just doing private lessons. However, we are looking to expand our pickleball programming to enhance our picklers experience. If you are interested in playing or learning this booming sport, please reach out to Travis Tressler or the front desk.

February Happenings

Fort Walton Beach Community Day

The support we have received over the last 5 years from this community has been amazing, and we would like to take the time to thank you all. To show our gratitude, we are hosting a free community day on February 18th from 11am-2pm. We will have music, food, raffle, giveaways, tennis and pickleball play, and, for our grand finale, 2 tennis exhibitions. I would like to thank you all personally for your continued support of what we are doing and can’t wait to see everyone out on the courts!
