Around The Courts: September Newsletter

Back to School!

Hello everyone, and welcome to our monthly Court Report! While the heat may be stifling here in Fort Walton Beach, it is not keeping people away from the courts. In August, our first week of clinics saw many familiar and new faces and our first annual Back to School Junior Open was a success. Looking ahead, Tuesday nights are expected to be packed with pickleballers for the inaugural Emerald Coast Social Sports League Pickleball league, come out and join us!

Welcome (again) Coach Jillian!

I am happy to announce that one of our summer camp counselors, Jillian Clancy, has decided to stay on the staff at FWBTC for the school year! Coach Jillian is a very strong local high school player, and she did an awesome job with our red and orange ballers during summer camps. For the time being, she will be teaching red and orange ball classes only on Tuesday and Thursdays.

USTA Tri-Level

With fall approaching rapidly, it is tri-level season for our USTA adult players. During their matches, there will be limited court time. To make sure you get a court, please call ahead or book a court online. Thank you to our super captains Mayumi Kosnosky and Mikaela McManus for organizing these teams, and good luck to all our participants this season!

September Happenings

After-school Lessons

With the school year starting, we have resumed our after-school lessons. Please visit our website for information on our different junior clinics, and, if you have any questions, reach out to the front desk or email tressler@ustaflorida.com.

Halloween Junior and Adult Slam

On October 28-29, we will be hosting two tournaments. On Saturday October 28th, FWBTC will host the Halloween Junior Slam. On Sunday October 29th, FWBTC will host the Halloween Adult Slam. This is our first time trying to host a junior and adult tournament on the same weekend, and we are super excited to see everyone in their best Halloween costumes. Sign up ASAP as spots are limited!

Closing Time

This summer flew by, and it’s hard to believe we have already begun our after-school lessons again. Thank you to all our summer camp participants, summer lessons, and our awesome staff for their hard work over the last 3 months. I am super excited for the 2023-2024 school year, and I can’t wait to see everyone back on the courts soon! With our new addition staff, we are going to continue to look to expand play options for everyone in the community. Again, thank you to our tennis community at FWBTC, and see you all out on the courts!
